Wheel rim painting - step by step
Check how to properly paint wheel rims using products from the NOVOL SPRAY line.
- PLUS 780 – silicone remover
- EPOXY PRIMER – epoxy primer
- WHEEL SPRAY – wheel rim paint
- CLEARCOAT – clearcoat
- red abrasive non-woven pad
- tack rag
- plastic spreader
- masking materials: masking paper or protective film, NOVOL masking tape
- paper towel
- P180-P240 abrasive paper
- sanding block
Thoroughly clean the wheel rim to be painted with lukewarm water and detergent.
Mask the wheel rim using masking paper and masking tape.
Sand the wheel rim with P180-P240 abrasive paper; remove all loose coatings and rust using a sanding disc mounted on a drill or a wire brush.
Degrease the washed and derusted wheel rim with the in-process silicone remover PLUS 780, which effectively removes residues of grease, oil, silicones and other contaminants.
Using EPOXY PRIMER epoxy primer, protect against corrosion the areas that have been sanded through to bare metal.
EPOXY PRIMER
Anti-corrosion, epoxy spray
15 min / 20°C
Apply WHEEL SPRAY paint in the selected shade (silver, steel, matt black or black).
- mix the paint thoroughly by shaking the can for 2 min
- apply 2-4 coats (flash-off time between coats: 5-10 min)
- drying time: 2 h/20 °C
- after use, clean the nozzle for 5 s by turning the can upside down
WHEEL SPRAY
Spray topcoat for rims (various colours). Very easy application

If you want the wheel rim to have a higher gloss (WHEEL SPRAY leaves a satin finish), apply CLEARCOAT clearcoat.
- mix the clearcoat thoroughly by shaking the can for 2 min
- apply 2-3 coats (flash-off time between coats: 5-10 min)
- drying time: 2 h/20 °C
- after use, clean the nozzle for 5 s by turning the can upside down
