The 2nd Polish Championships of Junior Painters - summary.

On 1st of April 2016, the Poznań Motor Show hosted the Finals of the 2nd Polish Championships of Junior Painters. As many as 20 two-man teams competed, eligible by on-line entries and qualification in an on-line painting technology knowledge test prepared by NOVOL. The championship has become a tradition and is an extra emotion-booster for the competitors. The honorary patronage was held by Włodzimierz Zientarski, an icon of Polish automotive journalism. Another celebrity present at the Finals was Łukasz Byśkiniewicz, TVN reporter and driver of the NOVOL-supported rally team.
The young car body painting apprentices competed in four Championship areas:
1.The Agility Zone (agility competitions: the NOVOL obstacle course and a timed event in assembling a SATA paint gun)
2.The Precision Zone (precision and timed competitions: tape removal with discs and putty hardener dosing)
3.The Colour Zone (colour vision competitions: Farnsworth-Munsell vision test and computer-aided vision testing)
4.The Industrial Zone (agility and analytical skills competitions: preparing the WAGNER paint gun pump for work and the NOVOL INDUSTRIAL Lab: coat thickness and gloss measurement, RAL colour template match, and substrate preparation assessment).
The Championships also included a test competition called Mask a Car for Painting in the Hand Skills Zone, which enjoyed huge popularity from the public. The competition will reappear as a compulsory event during the next edition of the Championships. Its unique feature was the vehicle to be masked: the Lancia Beta Montecarlo driven during the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique 2016 by NOVOL’s special guests, Andrzej Lubiak and Jerzy Szymański.
